The obverse features the country name and an eagle on a cactus eating a snake. This image comes from the Aztec legend of the founding of Tenachtitlan (present-day Mexico city). The reverse shows Josefa Ortíz de Dominguez (also known as "La Corregidora"), the date, and the denomination. She was an important figure in Mexico's Independence because she warned others about the Spaniards. A fellow numismatist gave me this coin.
